Linux Group

With the growing importance of Linux in today's world of computing, the Linux Group was formed to act as a platform for the members to pose and discuss various problems and aspects of Linux.

An introductory talk was organised which aimed at creation of awareness among the freshers and second year students who are new to Linux.

A talk was given by Mr.Supratik Hegde about the open source concept (GPL), it's advantages and importance in the global scenario, cost factors and commercial prospects. Different Distributions of Linux, their features, system requirements and other prerequisites were also some of the points discussed during the talk.

A multimedia presentation that enthralled everybody was also a main feature of the seminar. A detailed procedure on the Installation of Linux was demonstrated practically on a PC already having another OS. Many questions pertaining to Linux were asked by the audience and was satisfactorily clarified by the speakers.

Many more seminars along with projects have also been lined up for the coming semester.
